De Figuren
My graduation project ‘De Figuren’, for Academy Minerva (Groningen, 2022). In this project I researched the layers of identity and contextual self-expression: how behavior changes depending on the situation and surroundings. There are five ‘Figures’: each representing a different layer of identity. These layers range from being heavily influenced by others, representing what is ‘learned’ and seen as ‘desirable behavior’, to the unrepressed and intuitive primal side of people.

My position paper, or ‘graduation thesis’. It’s a story about self discovery and development wrapped in an illustrated fairy tale. The booklet consists of five chapters: each describing different time periods in my life.

Character Booklet
Collage-based illustrations collected into one zine—a research on how I can further utilise my sketches. I sketch a lot, and I wanted to find a way to use my rough sketches. The images for the collages were taken from various magazines and randomly put together. Every character has their own spread, a name, and a small description.
